Basic swimming ability is a fundamental requirement in any
meaningful attempt to eliminate drowning in Canada.
The Lifesaving Society offers training programs from
learn-to-swim through advanced lifesaving, lifeguarding and
leadership. Contact your local municipal pool, Y, summer
camp, school, college or university.
The Lifesaving Society started life in 1891 as the"The Swimmers'
Life Saving Society." 'Swimmers' was dropped the following
year and by 1904, we were styled the Royal Life Saving Society.
Today Canadians know us simply as the Lifesaving Society.
